Cumberland Oratorio Singers Choral Award

 

     The Cumberland Oratorio Singers Choral Award is given annually by the Cumberland Oratorio Singers to a member of the Methodist University Chorus whom the conductor feels most nearly embodies the characteristics of an ideal choral singer. The award is $100 and an engraved plaque.

Winners Biographies

     Jonathon Barber graduated in Winter 2000 with a BA in Music with a Concentration in Fine Arts Management. He has served as: Accompanist for The Rainbow's End and Synergy, Equipment Manager for The Rainbow's End and Synergy, Assistant Director for the Rainbow's End for two years, and President of the MC Concert Choir for each of his four years at Methodist College.

     Laura Landreth graduated in Spring, 2000 with a double major in Piano Performance and Music Education. While a student she was accompanist for the MC Concert Choir, Rainbow's End, and Synergy (the MC Show Choir) and president of the MC Collegiate Music Educators Association

     Brenda Vandervort graduated in Winter 2000 with a BA in Music. Brenda was an outstanding contralto soloist. She was a member of The Rainbow's End, The MC Concert Choir, and Synergy.

     Travis Kornegay, a tenor, presented his Methodist College senior recital on April 13, 1997. He sang with COS for several seasons. Travis has gone on to receive his MM from Kansas State University, and to teach choral music in a middle school in Greeley, CO.
